Jerrie Ann Earls, age 76, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026. Born on July 30, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jerrie was the eldest of thirteen siblings and devoted much of her life to her family and to caring for others. She spent many years working as a hairdresser, where she loved helping others look their best.
Jerrie took immense pride in her family and treasured every moment spent together — whether gathered for holidays, enjoying simple get-togethers, or competing in a friendly card game. She loved the thrill of finding bargains at yard sales and thrift stores, always on the lookout for something special. Her love often showed up in small, tangible ways — baking your favorite dessert or buying a trinket that reminded her of you, a simple but meaningful way of letting you know you were always on her mind. You could always count on Jerrie to arrive at a gathering with multiple homemade desserts, each prepared with love. She also had a special affection for her beloved Yorkie, Jackson.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters, Sonia Cassady (Dwayne), Stacey Jacobs (Mark), and Tiffany Caruso (Brian). Jerrie loved her granddaughters Abigayle Jones (Jacob), Olyvia McCool (Skyler), Jenna Jacobs (Drew), Maggie Jacobs, and Izabella Taylor, and she enjoyed watching her family grow with the arrival of her great-granddaughters, Emmi and Lily. She is also survived by her siblings Mike Walston (Gerri), Pat Walston (Ellen), Diane Coddington, Karen Johnson (Nathan), David Walston, Tammy Nay, Willie Spaulding, and Jody Spaulding Zapata. In addition, she is remembered by her 28 nieces and nephews, as well as 56 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jerrie was preceded in death by her father, George Walston; her mother, Delores Curtis; her sisters, Leila Sutherland, and Tina Lacy; her brothers, Vincent Walston and Todd Spaulding; her husband, Larry Earls; and her beloved Yorkie, Jackson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, IN 47150.
Jerrie will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her unexpected wit, and the love she shared with her family.
