Jeffrey Beumer, age 70, passed away on June 17, 2026. He was born on February 3, 1956, and lived a life marked by service, hard work, humor, and a deep love for his family.

Jeff was raised on a dairy farm right here in Louisville, where he learned the value of a long day’s work and the kind of practical knowledge that only comes from having to fix what is broken and keep things moving. It was there that he developed both his remarkable ability to repair almost anything and the values that guided him throughout his life: integrity, faithfulness, and respect.

Jeff proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he was well known and respected for his leadership in training and repair efforts involving the M2 and M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicles. After his time in the Army, he found work he truly loved in the world of heavy equipment. Jeff especially enjoyed working on Caterpillar dozers, excavators, and huge Dump trucks the bigger, the better.

To those who knew him best, Jeff was a professional “tinkerer.” He rarely missed a race of any sort and there weren’t many things he couldn’t fix. Jeff had a gift for seeing possibilities in every project and hung on to most of them. He loved anything with a motor, cars, golf carts, lawnmowers, heavy equipment, and whatever else he could get running. If it had a motor, Jeff believed it probably needed to be faster.

Jeff had a way of bringing warmth and humor into everyday moments. His familiar sayings, “I reckon,” and “I got one of them around here somewhere,” will be remembered. Those phrases captured so much of who he was: practical, easygoing, resourceful, and always ready to lend a hand.

Above all, Jeff was a husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Beumer; his sons, David Beumer (Christi) and Michael Beumer (Andre); his sister, Kim Beumer; and his four grandchildren, Kaydee, Reina, Harleigh, and Cami. Family that preceded Jeff in death were his father’s, David Beumer, and Paul McCarthy, his mother, Ruth McCarthy, his brother, Michael Beumer, and his sister, Robin Coalter. His family will carry forward his stories, his lessons, his humor, and the countless memories made in garages, driveways, workshops, and wherever something needed fixing.

Jeffrey Beumer leaves behind a legacy of service, ingenuity, faithfulness, and love. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.
