Reverend Jeffrey Lynn Babb was born in Louisville Kentucky on June 23,1963, to Ewing and Ada Babb. He went on to be with the Lord on April 9, 2026, at Jewish Hospital hosparus care after a long illness. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Ada and Ewing Babb and his brothers, Robert Ewing, Harold Thomas and William Wayne Babb.
Jeffrey attended school in the Jefferson County public school system. He was a graduate of Southern High School. He later went on to earn an Associates of Arts degree in Religious Studies at Simmons College graduating with “Highest Distinction”. Jeffey was called to the ministry on April 5, 2014. He went on to become an ordained minister at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church on November 13, 2016.
On May 13, 2006, Jeffrey married Cheryl Ann Major. They remained in this loving and Godly union until his death, thereby honoring the vow they made to each other and before God, “until death do us part”.
Jeffrey loved the Lord with all his heart and with all his soul as was evident by his works and the testimonies of those who knew him. He loved the people and was very active at his church home, including teaching Sunday School. Even during his prolonged illness, Jeffrey continued to attend church and teach Sunday School until he was physically no longer able to do so.
Jeffrey leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory Cheryl, his loving wife of twenty years; his children, Jeremy Ja’Vae Babb, Darren Russell and Chrisheda Russell; his sisters, Joyce Babb, Shirley Babb McClain and Kippy Babb Armour (William); brothers, Larry Babb and Richard Babb; grandchildren, Nesha McKissick, Joshua Martin, McKenzie Russell; great grandchild, Daislon “DaDa” Ashby, and a host of loving cousins, church brothers and sisters and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 2707 Fleming Avenue, Louisville, KY, 40206, from 10am-11am with a celebration of Reverend Jeffrey's life beginning at 11am.
Graveside services, with military honors, will follow the church service at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central, 2501 N, Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY beginning at 2:30pm.
