Jeannine Louise (Durick) Jones

February 9, 1941 — April 8, 2019

Jeannine Louise (Durick) Jones, 78, of Greenville, Indiana, peacefully passed away on April 8, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Donald W. Jones. She is survived by her children: Paul Jones (Jill), Bill Jones, and Mary Jones Buczek (Jim); her grandchildren, Garrett and Gwyn Jones and Quinn and Merrill Buczek; and her siblings, Joan Peterson, Joyce Kinzer, Tim Durick, Janelle Friedlander, and Julie Berg.

Jeannine was born on February 9, 1941, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to the late Tom and Maxine (Fitzpatrick) Durick.

An Underwood High School graduate, she received an Associate degree from Creighton University in Medical Technology.

Jeannine married Don in 1961, and they had their first home on a farm in McClelland, Iowa, where they started their family. The first of many job-related relocations would bring them to southern Indiana where they raised their family.

While Don worked in Louisville, Jeannine watched over the farm, took care of the kids, and was involved in their many activities. She selflessly encouraged and supported her children's endeavors, driving them to their practices, games, rehearsals, shows, and contests, and when the need arose she became a local 4-H club leader.

After Jeannine and Don's children graduated from high school, Don was afforded many career opportunities for which they would relocate throughout the Midwest. This was a time of personal growth for Jeannine. She made many new friends, improved her tennis game, traveled, renewed her interest in painting, and became a master gardener. She was also able to spend more time with her mother.

When Don retired in 2001, Jeannine and Don returned to their farmhouse in southern Indiana. She enjoyed hosting wildflower walks for the local botanical society, continued to play tennis and paint with friends, doted on grandchildren, and made our world a better place.

Jeannine was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was a strong and kind woman, a good wife and mother, a caring and beloved sister, a wise granny well versed in family history, and a sympathetic friend. She was a whimsical and knowledgeable gardener, a talented artist, a patient teacher, and, on the tennis court, a feared competitor.

A two-time cancer survivor that would eventually succumb to Parkinson's disease, she fought with grace and with the help of wonderful caregivers. Thank you to Cheryl, Ashley, Melissa, Myra, Alli, Mimi, Sierra, Kylie, Tena, Jasmine, the team at Accessicare, and the team at Hosparus for treating her with dignity and humor; and thank you, Carol, for always being available for Jeannine.
