On Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at Baptist Health Louisville, God called Jeanie Renee' (Smith, Hicks) Gribbins home, to spend eternity with Him. She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Jeanette Smith. Jeanie Renee' entered eternal life leaving behind her husband of 27 years, Thomas E. Gribbins; two children, Tanya Taylor (James) and Daniyel E. Hicks (Teresa); two step children, Michael P. Gribbins (Jamie) and Brian M. Gribbins (Heather); five grandchildren, Travis, Tara, Dalton J. Taylor, Willow and Everett Hicks; two step-grandchildren, Alyssa M. Gribbins and Jared Bryant; three siblings, Becky Wrocklage, Patricia Hart (Kevin) and John Renault Smith (Sharon); her favorite aunt and uncle, Barbara and Dalton A. Smith and many close friends and special cousins, Ronald and Joanna Bayer.
Jeanie was a Rainbow Girl and a member of the National Histology Society. Jeanie served 30 years as a histologist within Ohio and Kentucky as well as the Louisville Norton Healthcare System. She was one of Kentucky's first female Cub Scout Masters. She enjoyed reading, creating things and spending time exploring all of Natures wonders. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and used her sewing ability to create 85 personalized Christmas Stockings for each family member as well as writing her annual Christmas letter of "Smith Family Circle of Love." Jeanie loved doing for others and loved traveling by train across America to visit her grandchildren.
Cremation has been her wish and there will be no traditional services at this time. There will be a celebration of life gather for Jeanie Renee' Gribbins to be celebrated with family, friends, past co-workers, as well as friends of other family members. The tentative date is set for Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Patricia and Kevin Hart, 6601 Tottenham Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40207.
