Jean Olivia Merideth

Jean O. Merideth died on Thursday, February 3, 2022, surrounded by her children.
Jean Olivia Kirkwood was born minutes before her twin sister, Jane Ethel, to parents Jewel McNary and Olivia Ostell (Smith) Kirkwood on May 17, 1939.

She grew up in Upper Highlands area of Louisville, KY attending Ahrens Trade High School. She was very creative and enjoyed watercolor, sketching and painting pottery. As a young woman she worked for Hadley Pottery. She learned to paint the "Country Pattern" images for the stoneware directly from founder Mary Alice. She married James R. Merideth in 1964. They had three children Olivia Miller (Ricky Bottoms), of Texas; CJ Morgan of Booneville, KY; and James Merideth II (Yvonne) of Crestwood, KY. After her divorce, she went on to own a daycare, and finally acted as an unofficial chauffeur for elderly lady friends.

She was a living example of how to live 1 Corinthians 13. She was meek, never self-seeking, and she never put herself before others. Jean enjoyed reading her Bible daily. When she was young, she sang in the church choir. She was an avid bowler with an average of 160. In addition, she loved watching cooking and home decorating shows on the television. She helped to coordinate the weekly Sunday Service at her apartment, Yorktown Senior House. She was an immaculate housekeeper known for touches such as a coffee tray laid out on her bed. Her family and friends will miss her Chess Lemon bars she was famous for bringing to potluck gatherings.

Jean leaves behind her grandchildren Tyler R. Morgan, Matthew D. Miller, Jaimee R. Merideth, Cecilia A. Merideth, Eamon Oliver Merideth, and finally her special telephone buddy - A. Zane Merideth to cherish her memory. Also left behind are her great grandchildren Autumn, Aliyah, Aubrey, Chandler, Bailey, and a new great grandson, Hunter Rhea, due later this month. Finally, she leaves behind a host of extended family.

Jean was preceded in death by parents and twin sister, Jane, as well as brothers John and Walter Kirkwood, grandson Timothy J. Miller, great grandson Bentley Morgan, and son-in-law, Troy D. Miller.
