Shelby "Jean" McCombs, 88, of New Haven, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on July 28, 2025. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and Nanny who cherished her family above all else. Her nurturing spirit shone brightly through her passion for caring for those she loved. An exceptional homemaker, Jean found joy in the simple tasks of life, particularly embracing her love for vacuuming.

A committed member of the Jehovah's Witness community, Jean was baptized over 65 years ago and lived her faith with dedication. She will be fondly remembered for her delightful collection of jewelry, shoes, and accessories, each piece holding a special place in her heart. Jean's warmth and kindness will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.

The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Springfield Nursing and Rehab for the exceptional care provided to Jean during her time there.

Born on March 4, 1937, in Glasgow, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Hascal and Ethel (Groce) Coulter. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Otis McCombs; sisters, Margaret Botts, Louise Botts; brothers, Jack Coulter, Jesse Coulter, and twin brother, Hascal "Junior" Coulter.

She is survived by her loving family, including daughters Connie (Gary) Stalcup and Deborah (Pat) Leuthart; son Todd (Jennifer) McCombs; grandchildren Cory (Tana) Stalcup, Josh Leuthart, Roxanna (Lance) Edwards, Leah (Jason) Royse, Brandi Leuthart, Piper McCombs; and great-grandchildren Jared Leuthart, Sydney Stalcup, Garret Royse, Zachary Royse, Tyler Leuthart, Jaxten Edwards, and Laken Edwards. Jean is also remembered by a host of extended family and friends who will carry her loving memory in their hearts.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Southwest Louisville Chapel, located at 10304 Dixie Highway. Jean will be laid to rest privately with her beloved husband Otis at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central at a later date.
