Jean Elizabeth Geswein

March 8, 1928 — December 9, 2020

Jean Elizabeth (Shewmaker) Geswein, 92, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She worked for Drs. Higgins, McCullough, and Bundy in New Albany for 27 years and retired from Westminster Health Care Center after 11 years. For many years, Jean helped at local running events.

She was born on March 8, 1928, in Elizabeth, Indiana, to Charles F. and Flora (Hays) Shewmaker. In addition to her parents, Jean is also preceded in death by her brothers, Clyde, Cletus, and Owen Shewmaker; and sisters, Faye McPhillips, Helen Kannapel, and Juanita Elbert.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Joseph H. Geswein; son, Fred Geswein; grandchildren, Jennifer Arnett (Chris) and Joanne Geswein (Michele); great-grandson, Joseph Crist Geswein; step-great-granddaughter, Tiah Northway; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her greatly.

All services are private, and entombment will take place at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Science Department of Providence High School (707 Providence Way, Clarksville, IN 47129).
