JD Lewis, 70, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on November 25, 2017.

Throughout JD's life he had two passions. One of which was being a loving dad, grandpa, brother and friend to many. The other was sports.

He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, the Indiana Hoosiers, the Indianapolis 500 and the Kentucky Derby. Incorporating his love for sports, JD was a sports writer and editor for The Republic of Columbus, Indiana from 1974 until 1983 and for The Courier Journal of Louisville, Kentucky from 1983 until his retirement in 2007.

JD was born on September 20, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late James and Kathryn (Baynes) Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jon L. Lewis.

He is survived by his daughter, Shaela (Josh) Lollar, three granddaughters Kirsten, Kennedy, and Kayleigh, brother Joel Lewis and sisters Judy (Lewis) Sanders and Jan Lewis. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service to honor JD will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 3:00pm at The Indianapolis Motor Speedway (16th Street and Georgetown Road, Gate 1) with a celebration of his life to follow at Foyt Wine Vault (1182 North Main Street, Speedway, IN 46224).
