Rev. John Berrien Minter, age 88 of Louisville, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015. Berrien attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky where he met the love of his life. He also attended Emory University Seminary. He was a Methodist minister in the South Georgia Conference until his retirement in 1963. He was employed with Schulmerich Carillion selling hand bells and church bells in Kentucky and Indiana. Berrien was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who was a faithful servant of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. and Charlynn Minter.
Rev. Minter is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth S. Minter; daughter, Alice Minter-Sauer (Ron) and John B. Minter (Virginia); grandchildren, Bruce C. Minter (Janice), Melissa M. Baerg (Ken) and Rachel S. Beck (Tom); 5 great-grandchildren, 2 "Kitty Boys"; and a host of relatives and friends.
There will be a memorial service at 1pm on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church 2000 Douglass Blvd. Louisville, KY 40204. There will be a reception and visitation following the service from 2-4pm in the Fellowship Hall's McAdams Room.
It was Rev. Minter's request that memorials be made to the Salvation Army or Dare-to-Care.
