In Loving Memory of Jarman Louise Davey
October 3, 1963 – August 4, 2025
With hearts filled with gratitude for her life and deep sorrow for her passing, we celebrate the homegoing of our beloved mother, sister, Mimi, and friend — Ms. Jarman Louise Davey. On August 4, 2025, at the age of 61, she transitioned peacefully into eternal rest.
Jarman was born on October 3, 1963, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Mamie Louise and John Edward Cousin. She was one of six siblings — Timothy, John Thomas, Tracy, Diana, and Michelle — and from an early age, her strong spirit, sharp wit, and caring heart set her apart.
Jarman was a proud mother to four children: Jeremy Lee, William Lee, Kanden Davey, and Diamond Davey. Her children were her world, and everything she did — every sacrifice, every prayer, every hug — was for them. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Mimi.” Braelyn Lee, Braxtyn Lee, Kynleigh Lee, Kingsly Davey, Bentley Davey, Jeremiah Davey, and Jamarion Davey.
Jarman worked with the New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corporation for over 28 years, where she served faithfully in the school cafeteria. She nourished generations of students — not just with food, but with kindness, smiles, and motherly warmth. Later, she continued her service to the community by working as a janitor at LifeSpring Health Systems for 12 years. No matter the job, she showed up with purpose, pride, and a spirit of excellence.
Jarman’s faith was the anchor of her life. She was a devoted member of Howard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where she served humbly and with joy. She volunteered wherever needed and had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. Her church family meant the world to her, and her spiritual walk was evident in how she lived — with compassion, resilience, and grace.
She was the type of person who could light up a room with just her presence. She had a story for every occasion, wisdom that came from experience, and a laugh that could lift your soul. Jarman loved to talk — not just to talk, but to connect, to uplift, to share her love. One quick phone call could easily turn into a three-hour conversation, complete with tears, laughter, and everything in between. She had a memory like a steel trap and could recount stories from decades ago like they happened yesterday.
To Jarman, family was everything — but her definition of family went beyond blood. If you were lucky enough to cross paths with her, chances are she adopted you into her tribe.
Jarman Louise Davey leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith. She taught us to care deeply, laugh loudly, and always find something to be grateful for. She was a mother to many, a friend to all, and the heart of our family.
We will forever carry her spirit in our hearts and celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
