Listen to Obituary

Janiyah Lee Ann Gaston, with a radiant spirit and an indelible smile, left this world on August 4, 2026. Born on December 9, 2013, in Louisville, Janiyah touched countless lives in her twelve brief years, becoming a beacon of love, energy, and kindness to all who knew her.

From the very beginning, Janiyah filled her days with enthusiasm and zest for life. Her vibrant personality shone through in everything she did. She was very sweet and loving, always ready to get up and go, forever curious and eager to try something new. Whether climbing trees, running across open fields, or constructing elaborate forts, Janiyah was always on the move—her playful spirit a source of joy for friends and family alike.

Janiyah's love for soccer was rivaled only by her fondness for adventure, particularly during trips to Florida and Gatlinburg. These excursions allowed her to explore and laugh freely, creating memories that will be cherished by those who accompanied her. In quieter moments at home, Janiyah enjoyed doing crafts, letting her imagination run wild with colors—especially her favorites: purple, green, and yellow. With a gentle hand and a caring touch, she loved putting on makeup and spending time playing with her beloved fur baby, Lily, who was always close by her side.

Always attentive to the needs of others, Janiyah's caring nature left a mark within her family and among friends. She loved her brothers deeply, constantly looking out for them with a fierce and protective devotion. Her willingness to do things for them, simply out of love, formed a bond between siblings that will endure even in her absence. Among her cousins and friends, Janiyah was a pillar of friendship and kindness. She was known for being a good friend—loyal, thoughtful, and supportive—bringing warmth and light into every relationship.

At the heart of Janiyah’s life was her beautiful soul. She continually worried about others, putting their happiness above her own. Her loving presence is remembered dearly, and her joyful laughter echoes in the hearts of those privileged enough to be part of her world.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Joziah Gaston; grandmother, LaShayne Gaston; great-grandparents, Patricia and Robert Borders; great-grandfathers, Jim Frazier and Patrick Carroll.
