Janis Virgene Popplewell, 93, of Louisville, Kentucky was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on April 7, 2020. She was a member of Eastside Praise Ministry Center.
Janis was born on December 16, 1926 in Whittle, Kentucky to the late William Oscar and Alta Mae Tucker. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Orvan Aaron Popplewell, her son, Michael Kent Popplewell,, her sisters Redith Tucker, Eddith Kelsey, Helen Johnson, Gladys Monk, and her brothers Lloyd Tucker and Garth Tucker.
Janis is survived by children, Robbie Popplewell, Sr., (Janet), Judy McDaniel (Tommy), Debe Skidmore (Harold) and Danny Popplewell (Genie Kearney); grandchildren, Robbie Popplewell, Jr., (Pam), Troy Popplewell (Sara), Whitney Jones, Jennifer Lefler (Matthew), Jessica Holbrook, Marty McDaniel (Janet), Jody McDaniel (Blaire), Beth Rayhill (Clint), Danielle Ware (Jason) and Courtney Wheatley (Kyle); and great-grandchildren, Reid, Emily, Cole, Ethan, Reilee Bunch (Justin), Alexandria, Maleah, Nayland, Brody, Gregory, Mallory, Evan, Silas, Stella, Morgan, Landon and Maddison.
The chapel service will be private for family members on Easter Sunday. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. The memorial service to celebrate Janis' life which will be held at Eastside Praise Ministry Center, will be scheduled for a later date when restrictions have been lifted.
