Janis Rae (Asleson) Pasiuk, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 7, 1939, in Hanska, Minnesota, Janis was the daughter of Raymond and Florence (Anderson) Asleson.
Janis dedicated her professional life to caring for others, retiring from Baptist Health Floyd. Following her retirement, she found a new calling as a gatekeeper at O'Bannon Woods State Park, where she continued to share her warm spirit with visitors. Janis was also a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed the challenge of working an intricate table puzzle. Her love extended beyond these activities; she was a devoted animal lover, who opened her heart to many furry companions over the years. A passionate sports fan, Janis avidly supported the University of North Dakota, the Minnesota Vikings, and the Corydon Central High School girl's basketball team. More than anything, Janis enjoyed all of the time that she got to spend with her grandchildren as they grew into young adults. Janis always made sure that holidays and family gatherings became special occasions that would create lasting memories.
Janis is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Christine Glomb (Ken) and Cathy "Kate" Racicot (Philip), as well as her grandchildren, Beth Glomb and Andy Glomb (Ashley), who brought immense joy to her life; and many niece, nephews and extended members of the Pasiuk family. She deeply cherished her family, and they will carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering support.
In addition to her parents, Janis was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Spike" Pasiuk; her brothers, Robert, Harlan, and Gary Asleson; and her sister, Donna Tostenson; her brother-in-law, Darryl Tostenson; and her beloved dog, Ranger. Following her wishes, cremation will take place, and Janis will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (655 St. Peter's Church Road SE, Corydon, IN 47112) with a celebration of Janis' life commencing at 5:00 p.m.
Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church or to Hosparus Health of Southern Indiana (502 Hausfeldt Lane, New Albany, IN 47150).
