Janis (Hoffeins) Hill

Janis (Hoffeins) Hill, 93, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022. She graduated from Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in Council Bluffs, Iowa and went on to have a career as a registered nurse. Jan was a longtime member of Floyds Knobs Christian Church, where she served many years as an elder, choir member, treasurer and Hillcrest Cemetery sexton.

She was also a member of The Coterie of New Albany, was an annual participant in the Senior Olympics and enjoyed gardening, as well as bird watching. Jan volunteered for several local organizations that included Meals on Wheels, New Albany-Floyd County Library, Carnegie Center and the New Albany Historical Society. She was an avid fan of the Louisville Bats baseball team.

She was born on November 10, 1928 in Manilla, Iowa to William and Minnie (Hubbard) Hoffeins. In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Hill; sisters, Ruth Bayes, Mildred Stephens; and daughter-in-law, Jane Hill.

Jan is survived by her children, Richard Hill, Carolyn Hoge (William); grandchildren, Courtney Paris, Alicia Flemming (Rene), Ali Hoge; and great-grandchildren, Conner Paris, Lilli Paris, Weston Flemming and Remi Flemming.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. at Floyds Knobs Christian Church (3838 Paoli Pike, Floyds Knobs). Her funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
