Janie Mae Davis, 78, of Louisville, passed away on April 22, 2016. Janie was born in Thomasville, GA on April 10, 1938, to the late James Nellon and Clareatha Williams. She was a preschool teacher with JCPS Headstart for 9 years and the West End YWCA for 15 years.

In addition to her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Davis; two sons, Gregory A. Davis and Alvin C. Davis; and two brothers, Joseph Nellon and Raymond Scott.

Survivors include her children, Valerie G. Davis, Eugene B. Davis, Troy A. Davis, Eugenia A. Davis (Al), and Erika N. Davis; daughter-in-law, Donna Davis; two grandchildren that she raised, La'Tonya Hocker (Lance) and Tonika Davis; 12 additional grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Brantley, Glenice Andrews, Johnnie Nellon, Vickie Nellon, and Gwendolyn Nellon; brother, James Nellon, Jr. (Jennifer); sister-in-law, Gwynlyn Nellon; and a host of extended family members.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church (1472 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40210). Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the church. Janie will be laid to rest with her husband, Eugene, on Monday, May 2 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery - Central in Radcliff, KY.
