Janice Wiegandt, a beloved mother, grandmother, and community member, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in Sellersburg, Indiana, at the age of 80. Born on June 20, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, Janice was a proud graduate of Shawnee High School, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with care and compassion.

Janice dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving her community. She worked as a school aid at Bowen Elementary School and was also a cherished lunch lady at St. Aloysius, where she touched the lives of countless children with her kindness and dedication. Her commitment to fostering nurturing environments extended beyond her professional life; she was an active member of her church bell choir, which reflected her deep spiritual commitment and love for music.

Family was of utmost importance to Janice. She was a dedicated wife to Bill Wiegandt for 59 years. Janice was a devoted caretaker and mother to her daughter, Dana, who faced disabilities. Her unwavering support for Dana was evident in her extensive volunteer work with Special Olympics, showcasing her belief in the potential of every individual. Janice’s proudest accomplishments were her two granddaughters, Isabel Long and Madelyn Jenkins, whom she loved dearly and cherished as the pride and joy of her life. The bonds she formed with them were a source of great happiness during her years.

A longtime member of Ascension Catholic Church and later Epiphany Catholic Church, Janice found solace and community within her faith. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her friends in her bridge group, illustrating her vibrant personality and zest for life.

Janice is survived by her loving daughters, DeAnna W (Gregory) Long and Dana Wiegandt, her cherished granddaughters, Isabel Long and Madelyn Long (Samuel) Jenkins, as well as her sisters, Tuesday Meadows, Donna Hatter, and Cindy Meadows, brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Darlene Jumpp, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
