Janice Straw, 77, of Louisville passed away on August 13, 2021.
Janice enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a constant reader of classic and contemporary novels, loved decadent sweets, a hot cup of tea, the old masters (such as Seurat and Van Gogh), long walks, and her little dog JoJo. A passionate movie buff, Janice was a fan of films ranging from Gone With The Wind to Goodfellas, and actors from Bette Davis to Brad Pitt. Her knowledge of film was extensive to say the least. A dedicated school teacher for over 30 years, Janice loved her students and touched many lives with her kindness and youthful enthusiasm. Without a doubt, many young minds have been enriched and opened by 'Mrs. Straw's' knowledge and passion.
Janice is survived by her devoted husband of fifty-five years, Jimmy; her son, Rick; her daughter-in-law, Melissa; her grandson-in-law, Andrew; her brothers, Butch and Ronnie; and her dearest friend, Susan. Janice will be missed by all!
A Remembrance of Janice's Life will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, and Receptions, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice's memory may be made to the Kentucky Humane Society.
