JANETTE "Sissy" LOUISE GREER, 89, joined the Lord on Thursday, April 6, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 14, 1927 in Louisville, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcella E. and Edwin B. Scott; a brother Frank H. Scott (Sarah); and a sister Marcella M. Gray.
Janette is survived by her two sons, David W. Greer (Beth Walker) and Timothy D. Greer; five grandchildren, Amy, Beth Westbrook (Jonathan), Margeaux West (Chad), Abigail (Jason D'Souza), and Kristy; five great-grandchildren, Vivian, Genevieve, Josephine, Theodore, and Guinevere; a brother, Edwin B. Scott (Mary); a sister, Shirley A. Knorpp; and many nieces and nephews.
A lifelong Louisville resident, Janette worked as a Court Reporter at the old Police Court in the 1960-70's for Judges William Colson, Rush Nicholson, Ben Shobe, and Bobby Haddad, and later for Judge Jack Mudd. Janette could write short-hand as fast as you could talk and type 150 words per minute. She also worked for KFC as an Executive Secretary before she retired.
She was a devout Catholic and belonged to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Janette loved to dance and was excellent at jitterbug and other dances. She was a highly skilled seamstress, sewing many of her own clothes, knitting beautiful scarfs for family and friends. She enjoyed watching sports, especially Tennis and UofL Basketball. But most of all she loved and enjoyed all of her puppies through the years, and one pet duck.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive Louisville, Kentucky 40243).
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10:00am at Newcomer Funeral Home with burial to follow at Crosswater Gardens Cemetery (7110 Billtown Road, Louisville, KY 40291).
