Janet Evelyn Dunn

Janet Evelyn Dunn, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 4, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on May 10, 1952, in Louisville, Janet lived a life marked by devotion to her family, a strong and memorable spirit, and a deep enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures.

A graduate of Pleasure Ridge Park High School’s Class of 1970, Janet went on to work at Zeon Chemicals for 20 years. She was known as a hardheaded and stubborn woman in the very best sense—determined, spirited, and never afraid to be herself. She was also hilarious, fun-loving, loving and caring, and deeply loyal to the people she held close. Janet loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed sitting outside with a good book, reading in the fresh air, and spending time fishing. She also found joy in gardening, crossword puzzles, following the Royal Family, and watching Frasier.

More than anything, Janet loved her family hard. One of her proudest joys in life was being a grandma and great-grandma, a role she cherished deeply and carried with love.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dunn; her mother, Lucille Bennett; her sister, Marilyn Green; and her brothers, Rod Bennett, Jack Bennett, Robert Bennett, Steve Bennett, David Bennett, and Tommy Bennett.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Barnhill and her husband, Jon, and by her son, William Stringer. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Cameron Greenwell, Joseph Alan, Kaitlyn Perry and her husband, Justin, Avery Johnson and his wife, Grace, and Adriana Barnhill. Her family also includes her great-grandchildren, Liam, Kairo, and Mila Evelyn. Janet is further survived by her sister, Linda Simpson and her husband, Mike, and by her brothers, Mike Bennett and his wife, Rosemary, and James Bennett and his wife, Kim. She will be remembered with love by all who knew her and by the family who meant so much to her.

Visitation will be held on October 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243. A funeral service will follow there on October 17, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Janet Evelyn Dunn will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her loyalty, and the love she gave so freely to her family. Her memory will remain a lasting blessing to those who knew and loved her.
