Jane Sturgill

Jane Marie "Janie" (Mott) Sturgill, 64, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on March 28, 2016. She was born on November 4, 1951, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late William and Gwendola (Elliott) Mott. Janie worked as a waitress for many years and was a member of the VFW Post 3281 in New Albany, Indiana. She enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid UK and NASCAR fan.

Along with her parents, Janie was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Smith; sisters, Paula Smith and Vivian Nevins; stepdaughter, Angie Purdue; and grandchildren, Hailiegh Smith and Dalton Denton. She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Kenny Sturgill; children, Kenny Sturgill, Jr., Tyrone Purdue, Jackie Inman, Shelley Jenkins, Kelly Harter, Brenda Smith, Tonya Smith, Johnny Sturgill, and Kimberly Sturgill; siblings, Juanita Engleman, Judy Broady, and Junior Mott; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana 47150) from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with her Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
