Jane Shull, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the age of 88 in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on May 2, 1937, to John and Helen (Bowman) Lawrence, Jane’s life was a testament to love, warmth, and devotion. A proud member of the Prairie Village Church of Christ, she embraced her faith with grace and kindness. Jane was an avid University of Louisville cardinals fan and loved attending football games with her husband. Jane’s artistic spirit shone brightly through her talents in sewing and crocheting, crafts she loved dearly. She poured her heart into creating beautiful works with her hands while also demonstrating incredible culinary skills, faithfully preparing a breakfast and dinner every evening by 5:00 p.m. Her home was always filled with the comforting aroma of her cooking, reflecting the care she had for her family.
A devoted mother and granny, Jane delighted in supporting her children and grandchildren, attending their games with unwavering enthusiasm. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless and unconditional, a constant source of comfort and joy. Jane’s welcoming nature extended beyond her family; she opened her heart and home to all, offering compassion and care that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Above all, she cherished her husband, Jerry Shull, with whom she shared 72 wonderful years, always making sure he knew he was her first priority.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and John Lawrence; her daughter, Julie Thomas; and her siblings, Henry, June, Frank, Betty, and Janice. She leaves behind a loving family to celebrate her life: her devoted husband Jerry; sons David and Glenn (Theresa) Shull; daughter Patti Shull; grandchildren Jennifer (Andy), Alison, Kristin, Alex, Landon, Abbey (Bruce), and Spencer (Brittany); great-grandchildren Luke, Danica, Andrew, Bennett, Presley, Bella, Chase, Fallen, Damien, Rozlyn, Emersyn; great-great-grandchild Jaxson; her brother Jerry Lawrence; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to honor Jane’s life during visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West in Louisville, Kentucky.
