Jane Louise Barker

Jane Louise Barker, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. She was born on June 17, 1941, in New Albany, Indiana.

Jane is lovingly remembered by her son, Todd Barker, and his wife, Lisa; her granddaughter, Tessa Marie Barker; and her sister-in-law, Carol Buchheit.

Her fondness for the natural world was evident in her treasured pastime of birdwatching, a peaceful activity she often enjoyed alongside Phoebe, the family dog, from the front porch of their home. Likewise, Nibbles, the family cat, received Jane's tender companionship and care.

Jane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Byron Barker, Jr., whose memory she honored every day; along with her brother, Peter Raymond Buchheit; and her parents, Pete Buchheit and Ada Steele Buchheit.

Cremation was chosen following Jane's wishes. She will be laid to rest privately at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany.
