James Lewis Turner

James Lewis Turner, 73, of Louisville, passed away on March 31, 2020. He was born January 18, 1947 in Richmond, Kentucky to Margaret Bradshaw (Ross) and Warren C. Turner. On February 11, 1993, he married Pamela (Zempel) in Louisville, Kentucky.

He attended Madison High School in Richmond, Kentucky. After high school, he served in the US Army from 1964 to 1968. A Vietnam Veteran, he was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. Other medals include a Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Service Star, an Overseas Bar, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.

After retiring from the Army, James worked at Naval Ordnance for 20 years as an ordnance equipment mechanic. After leaving Naval Ordnance, he opened an electronic repair business, retiring in 2008.

He is survived by his sister Helen Chenault, two children from a previous marriage: Steven Turner and Stacy Manion (Turner), Khaira Turner, and his grandchildren Derek, Eric, Vanessa, Taya, and Donavan, and many great grandkids, nephews, and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his brother Henry, his father Warren, his mother Margaret, and his daughter Tracy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
