James A. Thompson

James A. "Jimmy" Thompson, Sr., 68, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. The saying "never met a stranger" was very true for Jimmy. He was always very social and enjoyed talking to almost anyone he ran into.

He was born on June 16, 1952, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Leo and Ruth (Courtney) Thompson. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Kenny Thompson; and sister, Kathy Holcomb.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sharon (McLain) Thompson; daughter, Shandahmeigh D. Thompson; son, James Thompson, Jr.; daughter, Paisley R. Thompson; brother, Paul Thompson; sister, Rose Klueh; sister, Susie (Robert) Varner; and sister, Erma Bradford Thompson.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Memorial Service will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Jimmy's wishes.
