James Parker Taylor

August 8, 1925 — February 7, 2018

James Parker Taylor, 92, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, American Legion Post 28, and the VFW Post 1693, all in New Albany.

He was born on August 8, 1925, in Somerset, Kentucky, to the late Oswyn and Annie (Trimble) Taylor. Jim was also preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Taylor; as well as four brothers and two sisters.

Jim graduated from the University of Kentucky, retired from General Electric, and was a decorated Navy air tail gunner during WWII.

Jim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Jane Kaufman Taylor; children, Glenda Park (Dennis), James Kaufman (Jacquelyn), and Doug Kaufman (Marie); 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Newcomer – Southern Indiana Chapel (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) and on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1752 Scheller Lane, New Albany). Burial with military honors will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, Kentucky.
