It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Randy Staples, who departed this life on August 1, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on November 12, 1945, in Louisville, Kentucky, Randy was the beloved son of John Paul Staples and Catherine (O’Neill) Staples.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather, Randy lived a life grounded in kindness, loyalty, and a genuine love for people. He graduated from Mount Washington High School in 1964 and later earned his degree from Bellarmine College in 1973. Randy proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying that sense of duty and honor throughout his life.
Randy found joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, tending to his tomato plants, and sharing stories and laughter with friends and family. His warm, social nature made him a cherished presence in every room he entered.
Randy is survived by his sisters Marilyn Staples and Mary Cook; his children John‑Paul (Denise) Staples and Stephane (Jared) Staples‑Goldman; his step‑children Wendyjo Holeck and Paul (Nikki) Sacra; grandchildren Alyssa (Zach) Trailor, Leia (Chris) Emerson, Garrett (Brianna) Staples, Joshua (Melanie) Madison, Whitney Sacra, Cheyenne (Joshua) Madison, and Randy Strassler; great‑grandchildren Brylin Druin, Marshall Madison, and Luke Madison; as well as a loving extended family of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wives Karen (Goodrow) Staples and Brenda (Sparks) Staples; and his sisters Shirley Smith and Nancy Staples.
Randy’s legacy is one of generosity, humor, and steadfast love. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation for Randy will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville, at 10304 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40272, on August 5, 2026, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 6:00 pm to 6:45 pm.
