James Milton "Jim" Smith, 73, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Jim loved watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and spending time with his dog, Layla.

He was born on July 15, 1944, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Flora Mae (Hamm) Smith. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Betty and Jack Smith; and brother-in-law, Don Wilkins.

Jim is survived by his wife, Faye Smith; son, Joseph Smith (Dena); daughter, Holly Hack (Harrell); brother, Jean Smith (Suellen); sister, Sharon Wilkins; grandchildren, Rebekah Smith, Rachel Smith, Kayla Hack, Jacob Hack, Stacy Wilkins, and Ranza Wilkins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). His Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in the chapel at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in New Albany.
