James Skidmore Clark, 78, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2025. Born on April 20, 1947, in Middlebury, Vermont, to Raymond and Nancy (McCormick) Clark, Jim was known for his infectious and outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger and always making a memorable impression on others. He was a dear and kind man who was loved by everyone.
Jim embarked on a successful career in sales, beginning with Keebler before ultimately retiring from the flooring industry. His dedication to his work was matched only by his passion for learning. Whether through reading or visiting libraries, museums, and historical sites, he looked forward to every opportunity to expand his knowledge and feed his curiosity about the world around him. He also had a unique way of capturing his interests through recording and collecting his favorite TV programs on VHS.
Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra; children: Kara Baumann (Mike), Bonnie Clark-Moskowitz, and Jonathan Clark (Deanna); his step-son, Clay Compton (Stephanie); his grandchildren—Shawn Baumann (Chelsea), Austin Baumann, Isaac Moskowitz, Joshua Moskowitz, Samuel Moskowitz, Sarah Moskowitz, Logan Clark, Byron Clark, Kati Compton, and Klaire Compton—and great-granddaughter, Nellie Irwin-Compton.
In addition to his immediate family, Jim is survived by his brothers, Raymond Clark (Patsy), Rick Clark (Carol), and Dean Clark (Linda), who shared many memories and experiences with him throughout his life.
Jim's wish was to be cremated. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany), followed by a celebration of his life at 4:00 p.m. Jim will be laid to rest at St. Philip's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona.
Contributions in his memory may be made to PBS or the American Cancer Society.
