James Lige Skaggs, 86, of Fairdale, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017. He was born in Taylor County, Kentucky on February 15, 1930 to the late Ernest and Lena Skaggs. He was a member of Wellman Holiness Church and was retired from Wood Mosaic.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings, Junior Skaggs, Earl Skaggs, Vertlee Price, Geneva Melby and Louise McAllister.
James is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joyce Skaggs; children, Larry Skaggs, Terry Skaggs and Darrin (Linda) Skaggs; a brother, Elmer (Jewell) Skaggs; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
A service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Louisville Chapel, 10304 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his church.
