James Clifton Settles Jr.

James Clifton Settles Jr., 79, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. James was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend. He is a proud Staff Sergeant in the United States Army after 3 years of faithful service to our country. He retired from International Harvester (Navistar) after 30 years. He also retired from Irving Materials Inc. He is a proud member of the UAW, Teamsters local 89, and American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping, gardening, and he loved going to NASCAR races with his family. His family meant more to him than anything and he loved spending time with them. Our proud veteran James will truly be missed by anyone and everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

He was born on May 18, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to James and Flossie (Jacobs) Settles. He is preceded in death by his Brother, Michael Settles, Father, James C Settles, Sr., and Mother, Flossie Settles.

James is survived by his loving Wife of 61 years, Alice Faye Settles, Son, Timothy "Timmy" (Donna) Settles, Daughter, Tammy (Lance) Raley, Sister, Betty Anderson, Grandchildren, Shea (Millie) Settles, Shane (Dana) Settles, Tabitha Settles, Austin Raley, Allison Raley, Casey (Chris) Idle, and Jamie (Clayton) Quinn, 8 Great-Grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 21, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Funeral Service will be at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (Central) in Radcliff, Kentucky.
