James C. Schum Jr. died January 2, 2021, at the age of 77, in Louisville, KY. Originally from Alden, NY, he moved to Louisville with his family in 1981.
He coached, and was the Athletic director at Louisville Collegiate school. He retired from Honda Cars of Clarksville, where he was a car salesman, and service advisor. His hobbies included coaching, mentoring youth, camping and jet skiing. He was the son of the late James C. Schum Sr. And Phyllis (Seagert) Schum; husband of Renae Schum; father of Jeffrey (Jennifer) Schum of Urbana MD, and Heather (Aaron) Curtis of Carmel, IN. Stepfather of Bobbie and Garret Culver; grandfather of Kaiyah and Daryan Turner, Allison Schum and Stella Culver.
He is survived by his sisters, Maryann (late Gerald) Gangloff and Krista Schum; his brothers Jon (Ronald Lacro) Schum and Alan (Charlene) Schum. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, George (Marianne) Schum and Donald Schum. He is also survived by his former wife Marilyn Schum.
A Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Fern Creek Community Center (6104 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40291). Masks and social distancing will be required.
