James Reados Swanner, Sr.

James Reados Swanner, Sr., age 87 of Louisville, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. He was born in Lynch, KY. to the late James and Bertha Boggs Swanner. He retired from General Electric as a tool and die maker. Jim was a devoted member of Columbia Christian Church in Columbia, KY. He was also a member Mason of the old Excelsior Lodge #258 and currently of Robinson Lodge #266 F&AM. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Elva Mae Rogers Swanner; and siblings, Juanita Groves and Christine Applebey.

Jim is survived by his sons, James R. Swanner, Jr. (Darlene), Theodore S. Swanner (Bonnie) and Douglas W. Swanner (Jody); six grandchildren, Melanie Franklin (Shawn), Candace Jones (Justin), Ted Swanner, Jr. (Melissa), Sean Swanson (Nikki) and Terra Scovil (Stewart); and ten great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral ceremony will be 11am Monday, May 4, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3rd from 2pm-7pm at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 6pm.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Arden Courts for their kindness and care they provided Jim the last four years.
