Pirtle, James R. Sr., 74, of Louisville, KY passed away on March 23, 2015.
James was born on July 22, 1940, in Logan County, KY the oldest of 11 children of the late Ewing R. Pirtle and Ruby E. Dillihay Pirtle.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Suda E. Butler High School in 1958.
Jim worked with many companies throughout his career including Winn Dixie, Strietmann Biscuit/Keebler Company, Frito Lay Inc., Sears Roebuck & Co., Commonwealth Life Insurance Co., and Home Depot.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Kenneth and Donald Ewing Pirtle.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Helen Mae Hunter Pirtle; daughter, Mary A. Pirtle Fisher (Alfred); son, James R. Pirtle, Jr. (Dianne), and "dad's love" Rex Pirtle Fisher; siblings, Betty Peters, Gayle Hazelwood (George), Judy Hardin, Sherry Gant (Tom), Peggy Holt (Jeff), Gary Pirtle (Theresa), Michael Pirtle (Bonnie), David Pirtle (Miriam); and many loving nieces and nephews.
A special remembrance of our brother and life-long friend Dr. Syngman Rhee who died Jan. 14th, 2015 & his wife, Haesun and their children, Anna, Peter, and Mina.
A special acknowledgement to long-time neighbors and friends, Ronnie & Mary Metzger, Bill & Betty Ferguson, and Pat & Tammy Dawson.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home (10304 Dixie Highway, Louisville). A funeral service to honor the life of Jim will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at New Lebanon Cemetery in Pickaway, West Virginia.
