James Paul Burns

James Paul Burns, 78, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Navy who dedicated his professional life to being an salesperson, earning the respect of his colleagues and customers alike.

Born on July 13, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, Jim was the son of Harry Burns and Anna (May) Morris. Throughout his life, he developed a passion for the ocean and took joy in exploring the world through his extensive travels.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Patricia Nation, Samantha Rittlinger (Chris) and Kimberly Gauger (Gene); his grandchildren: Ryan, Amber, Matthew, Johnathan, Jacob, Anthony, Emily, and Sarah, and his great-grandson, Jayden, as well as another great-grandson and great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his brothers, Tony Burns, Joe Morris (Bobbie), Ricky Morris (Michelle), and sister Ruthie Morris. Additionally, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Billy and Earl Burns.

Jim's wishes were to be cremated, and a gathering for family and friends has been arranged to celebrate his life. This will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions located at 3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m.
