James Patrick O'Brien Jr.

October 24, 1927 — January 22, 2016

James Patrick "J.O." O'Brien Jr., 88, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on January 22, 2016. He retired from Fischer Packing Company and was a member of local 227. He loved being with his family and being at the lake enjoying a good highball while playing cards.

J.O. was born on October 24, 1927, Louisville, Kentucky to the late James and Leola (Harrison) O'Brien.

J.O. is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sylvia Ann (DeSpain) O'Brien; children, Alfred Vest III (Ann), Cindy Smith, Ray O'Brien (Greg), Dean O'Brien (Lois), Karen Bonifer (Philip), James O'Brien III (April), Paul O'Brien (Cindy); grandchildren, Rebecca Bonifer, Sean O'Brien, Lauren Vest, Dalton O'Brien, Joel O'Brien, Jesse Brown, Garrett O'Brien, Shannon O'Brien, Aaron O'Brien, and Emily Vest; great-grandchild, Aidan O'Brien; and a host of family and friends.

A Gathering will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville) with his Memorial Service to follow immediately. Final Resting place will be private at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kentucky Humane Society.
