James Ray Ludwick

James Ray Ludwick, a beloved figure in the hearts of those who knew him, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was 78 years old.

Born on June 13, 1946, to the late Isaac and Lilly Ludwick, James's life was rich with experiences, love, and laughter. Though he is preceded in death by his cherished children, Lisa and James, a grandchild, and brothers Thomas and Carl, the spirit of James endures in the hearts of his loved ones.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Pamela Ludwick, along with his son Jerry and stepchildren John (Jessie), April (Joe), and Angie (Jason). The joy of being a grandparent was evident in his life, as he is survived by eleven grandchildren who adored him. His brothers, Dennis (Darlene) and Ed (Carol), also carry forward the honor of his legacy.

James was a man of many passions. He was a dedicated husband, a nurturing father, and a playful "papaw." His love for fishing was matched only by his enthusiasm for sports—especially baseball. With a tendency to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, he could often be found working in his yard, enjoying hot rod cars, sporting his favorite shorts, savoring Whoppers, and sipping on Mountain Dew. Those closest to him remember his caring nature, warm personality, and playful spirit that brought joy to gatherings and ordinary days alike.

A visitation in his honor will take place from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 20th, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel (10304 Dixie Hwy). A funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm.
