James L. Poole

James LeRoy Poole, 80, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away, Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was born April 20, 1936, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late James M. and Ruth L. (Saunders) Poole. He graduated from Jeffersonville High School in 1955. James was employed at Navistar International Harvester, where he retired after 40 of years of service. He was a faithful member of Gospel Tabernacle. His interests included spending quality time with his family, hunting, fishing, and boating. He had a memorable sense of humor that would bring smiles to many.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vaughn Poole; his ex-wife, Paula M. Poole; and his grandson, Jamie Scott Powell. He is survived by his six children, Karla (Dave) Jerrell of Treasure Island, Florida, Shawn (Ann) Poole of New Washington, Indiana, James (Mikal) Poole of Suffolk, Virginia, Daniel Poole of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Virginia (Robin) Parks of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Joanna Poole of Sellersburg, Indiana; two sisters, Lunette Hahn and Sondra Murphy; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2016, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the funeral home, and he will be laid to rest at Charlestown Cemetery in Charlestown, Indiana.
