James J. Kane

James J. "Jim" Kane, 81, of Georgetown, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Jim worked for United Catalyst Inc. in Louisville as a foreman for 41 years until retirement. He was also co-owner of Pool Man in Clarksville for 19 years. Jim was a hard worker his entire life and always enjoyed taking long drives and spending time with family and friends in his free time.

Jim was born on July 3, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Bernard and Lucina (Hohman) Kane. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Kane.

He is survived by his children, Sherry Lawhorn (Charles), Kathy Paris (Keith), Ann Hutchinson (Jeff), Mike Kane (Lisa), and Mark Kane (Karen); significant other, Sissy Mefford; sisters, Patricia Morgan and Josephine Farry (Doug); 10 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). Cremation was chosen following Jim's wishes, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Most Precious Blood Catholic Parish (2300 4th Street NE Middletown Road, New Middletown, Indiana 47160).
