James "Jim" Alan Thompson

James (“Jim”) Alan Thompson, also known as “JT”, age 80, passed away on October 20, 2026. James was born on November 30, 1945 to the late Nathaniel and Polly Thompson in East Saint Louis, Illinois. James attended St. Philip School and Assumption High School in East Saint Louis, served in the United States Army, was a proud Vietnam veteran, and a longtime member of St. Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church.

Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Robert Douglas Thompson, and his beloved grandson, Ozzie Ray Thompson. James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sharon (Korfhage), his children, Scott (Melissa Coyle), Kevin (Kristen), and Brian; grandchildren Lewis and Lenore Thompson; and many other extended family members.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, and 10:00 to 10:30 AM Friday, October 30, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home in New Albany, Indiana. A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Saint Mary’s of the Knobs Catholic Church, 5719 St. Mary’s Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana 47119, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
