James "Jim" Coleman Stansbury, born on February 15, 1931, in Bardstown Junction, Kentucky, passed away on January 10, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. He lived a life filled with love, devotion, and service to his family and country.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force, enlisting on September 24, 1951. His service was marked by commendable dedication, earning him both the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on September 23, 1955, after four years of service.

Jim enjoyed a variety of hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation. He could often be found fishing on Patoka Lake, spending Friday nights at the VFW, visiting the casino, going for leisurely walks, reading his Bible, and tending to his garden. He was also a proud member of First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Family was at the core of Jim’s existence, and he took immense pride in the time spent with his daughters and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughters, Donna Lee (Vince Mattingly) Stafford and Kimberly (Bryan) Bowling, as well as his grandchildren, Bryan Cook, Elizabeth Pritchard, Emily (Layne Nelson) Pritchard, and Madison Pritchard. He was also a beloved great-grandfather to Jada Cook and Paisley Pritchard. Jim is additionally survived by his sister, Rita Carol Thim, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will remember him fondly.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Stansbury, and his parents, James and Ruby Stansbury. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Sue Peppers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM.

Jim will be missed dearly, but his legacy of love, service, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those he cherished.

The family requests that contributions in James "Jim"’s memory be made to First Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
