James "Jim" Sidebottom, born on February 19, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, with his family by his side. He lived a life marked by dedication, laughter, and a deep love for his family, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy that will undoubtedly endure in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jim was the proud owner and operator of Shermco Machine and Tool, reflecting his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to quality craftsmanship. In addition to his work at Shermco, he also worked at King Bearings and contributed his skills in outside sales at Baughman Group. His career was a testament to his work ethic and passion for his profession.

A graduate of Fern Creek High School, Class of 1961.

Jim carried with him a sense of humor that was boundless, serving as the ultimate comedian who brought joy and laughter to countless lives until the Lord welcomed him home. His light-hearted spirit and ability to entertain made every gathering special, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends.

Jim was actively involved in his community, holding esteemed positions within the Freemasons. He was a past Master of Buechel Lodge 896 F.&A.M. and Jeffersontown Lodge 774 F.&A.M. He also served as DDGM for the Grand Lodge of Kentucky F.&A.M., and was the Grand Senior Deacon for District 14. Additionally, he earned the honor of Master of Consistory, 33 degree, Scottish Rite. These roles were a reflection of his commitment to service and leadership within his community.

At the center of Jim's life were his family and loved ones. He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia "Pat" Sidebottom; son, Jeffery V. Sidebottom of Yakima, WA; daughter, Laurie Ann Vincent of Bardstown, KY; grandchildren, Ashley (Jessica) Vincent, Brittany Vincent, Kacy Rae (Shea) Kenworthy, and Jeffery Dylan (Matt) Stafford; great-grandchildren, Cody, Camden, Jackson, Aiden, Ava, and Cole; and sister, Diana (Jim) Isaacs. Jim's grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him, and he cherished the moments spent with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis A. Sidebottom, Sr. and Ruby Pearl Sidebottom; grandchild, James Cody Vincent; sister, Jewel Moody; brother, Louis A. Sidebottom, Jr.; sister, Joyce May Groves; brother, Donald Ray Sidebottom; sister, Violet Jean Sidebottom; and brother, Leonard Sidebottom. The loss of these individuals was felt deeply by Jim, yet their spirits remained ever-present in his heart.

Visitation services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Dr, Louisville, KY 40243, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will take place the following day, Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the same location, starting at 1:00 PM.

Jim Sidebottom’s life was a celebration of family, friendship, and faith. His infectious laughter, dedication to his craft, and unwavering love for his family will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
