James "Izele" I. Norris, a father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on December 9, 2025, in New Albany, Indiana. Born on July 30, 1938, in Burkesville, Kentucky, James dedicated his life to the art of carpentry, mastering the skills to build and restore houses, creating not just structures but homes filled with warmth and memories.

James was a man of many interests and hobbies that enriched his life. He was passionate about woodworking and found great joy in traveling and reading, with a particular fondness for westerns. His hands worked with a purpose, shaping materials into creations that mirrored his character—strong, enduring, and timeless.

He leaves behind a his family, daughters, Regina Blevins and Kathie Howard, and his sons, Benjamin Norris and James I. (Charity) Norris, will forever remember the lessons he imparted and the love he shared. His legacy is further carried on by five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

James is also survived by his siblings, including his sisters Marie Brock, Claria (Gary) Trob, Rita (Gary) Brou, Theresa (Gary) Taylor, Sherry Blackford, and his brother Raymond Crick, as well as his brother Dave (Judy) Norris. He also leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father and step mother, Clarence (Florence) Norris, his mother, Ethel Crick, his sister Linda King, and brothers Kenneth and Charlie Crick. Each of these relationships shaped James’s life.

As we remember James "Izele" I. Norris, we celebrate not only a skilled carpenter but a dedicated family man whose spirit will live on through the lives he touched. His memory will forever remain a guiding light for his family and friends.

It was James's wishes to be cremated without services.
