It is with great sadness the family of James Michael Paul Henry announce his passing on April 27, 2020, at the age of 58. He was at home and surrounded by his family. Jim met life with a courage that was sustained by his strong faith and love for his family. He would often say, "If this is what He (Jesus) wants, I"ll take it. I am glad it's me and not someone else." That was Jim, always willing to help others and rarely asking others for help.
With a divided Purdue/Indiana University family, Jim proudly attended Indiana and used his degree for his 30+ year career at Samtec, where he served as a Senior Application Engineer. Jim enjoyed the challenge of his work and spoke highly of his friends and co-workers. He was so grateful to them for their unfailing support, as is his family.
Jim had long looked forward to retiring in a few years. His goals were to spend more time with his cherished family, relaxing by the lake, and offering his handyman services to the elderly. He will be dearly missed, but we take Jim's attitude towards trust in the Divine Will, even when we don't understand it.
Jim's children will remember him for pajama drives to get penny candy, Nerf wars, amazing Christmas seasons, and always being there. Those traditions will be carried on in the lives of his grandchildren. Jim gave Emily and Zak their first paying jobs, 5 cents a rock picked out of their yard. They didn't get rich, but he sure got the grass to grow eventually. They never forgot the lesson in determination.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Alma (Lenfert). Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Beth Ann "Bess" (Morlen); daughter, Emily Camenisch (Chris); son, Zachary Richardson (Lauren); brothers, Mark (Brenda) and Phil Henry (Talara); sister, Karen Johnson (Stu); grandchildren, David, Arrianna, Micaiah, Emmalynn, Matthew, Lily, and Blake; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Cremation was chosen following Jim's wishes, and he will be laid to rest with his parents at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Albany. The family requests contributions in his memory be made to Washington County Helping Hands, Inc. (P.O. Box 483, Salem, IN 47167).
