James Allen Harrison I

James Allen "Jim" Harrison I, 79, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017. Jim worked for 39 years at Louisville Gas & Electric until his retirement. He also enjoyed working as a greeter at Walmart in Clarksville for over 8 years. Jim held the office of Priest at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a 50-year member of the DePauw Masonic Lodge #338 F&AM in New Albany. He toured across the United States as a member of the Baillie Players Theatrical Company with his wife and daughter, which combined two of his favorite things: meeting new people and spending quality time with his family.

Jim was born on December 29, 1937, to the late Leo B. and Jesse (Byrnes) Harrison. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his children, James "Jamie" Harrison II and Phlanda Bramlett; and siblings, Merle Harrison, Evelyn Dillman, Tom Harrison and Larry Harrison.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Charlene (Fulks) Harrison; daughter, Jennifer Harrison McDonough (Tom); daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cash; sister, Beverly Vannier (Dr. Frank); and grandson, Chance Stephens.

A Memorial Gathering will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany, Indiana). His Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Jim's wishes.
