James Donald "Don" Grammer Sr., 89, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at his home.
Don was a lifelong Kentucky resident. He graduated from Louisville Male High School in 1948. Don started singing in church at the age of 6. He continued singing throughout his life and was a member of the Louisville Thoroughbred Barbershop Chorus for 42 years. Don's other hobbies included fishing, woodworking, and baseball. He worked in the dental industry in equipment sales and office design from his teenage years until he retired from Nashville Dental. He was a man of faith, always had a heart for the Lord, and actively participated as a church and choir member for his entire life. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Don was born on September 5, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky to Frank and Bessie Grammer. He is preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diana Lou Grammer, sons, James Donald Grammer, Jr. (Karen), John David Grammer, Jeffrey Daniel Grammer (Robin), and Jason Derrick Grammer (Stephanie), daughters, Jennifer Diane Vick (David), and Pamela Jo Lott (Timothy), grandchildren, Jaime, Jacquelyn, Kyle, Jacob, Aaron, Jaron, Reba, Nora, Melynn, Ethan, Lukas, Katie, great-grandchildren, Taylor and Schylur, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Louisville, (235 Juneau Drive). His Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, at Christ Church United Methodist, (4614 Brownsboro Rd. Louisville, KY 40207), with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
The family requests that contributions in Don's memory be made to Kentucky Racetrack Chaplaincy, or Hosparus of Louisville.
