James Walter Gootee

November 4, 1949 — February 23, 2019

James Walter Gootee, 69, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Jim was an avid camper. He was a long-time member of Southeast Christian Church and enjoyed being a part of the Southeast Easter Pageant. Jim was also a member of the Jaycees in Lyndon, KY.

He was born on November 4, 1949 in Pewee Valley, Kentucky to the late Joseph and Catherine (Willett) Gootee. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, LeRoy, and David; sister, Jo Ann.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Peggy (Braun) Gootee; daughter, Stephanie Parr; step-daughter, Carrie (Greg) Baylor; step-son, Clint (Michele) James; grandchildren, Brady (Sara), Drew, Lilly, Emily, Austin, Kaelin (Austin), Kiersten; great-grandson, Levi; brothers, Bob, Mike, Bill, Mark and Tim; and sister, Mary Lou.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - New Albany, (3309 Ballard Lane). His Memorial Service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Cremation was chosen following Jim's wishes.
