James Robert Eubanks, Sr., aka "Jim-GranGran", age 88 passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at his home in Louisville, Kentucky. Jim grew up in Birmingham, AL. He was a gifted athlete in track and football, captain of the city champs, and received All-City and All-State honors at Ramsay High School. Jim graduated from Howard College and was subsequently employed by Pan-Am Southern Petroleum Company. He moved to Louisville in 1972, converting Amoco's service stations to self-service stations under Whale Oil Company. In 1980, Jim retired in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with 32 years of service. He was sold out to Jesus Christ, ministering as a Sunday school teacher and an ordained deacon. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church. Jim loved the beach, sunshine, fishing, woodworking and his "Sissy" dogs. He was kind, generous, a southern gentleman and always quick to help others. He was devoted to his wife and his Godly family he leaves behind. Jim was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Eubanks and great-grandson, Barron Dorr.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Barbara; children, James Eubanks, Jr. (Patti), Shand Eubanks (Ronnie) and Linda Marshall (Joe); 13 grandchildren, Shelly Miller (Jeremy), Kimberly Campbell (Philip), TJ Eubanks (Stephany), Mona Favaron (Jacob), Jessie Kilpatrick (Josh), Allie Eubanks, Randi Warmath (Andrew), Todd Eubanks, Micah Eubanks, Jamie Dorr (Jake), Geena Marshall and Casey Fox (Brian); 19 great-grandchildren; twin sister, Betty Enoch; and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 12 to 3pm on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Chapel in the Woods, 1407 Moser Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40299 with a Celebration of Jim's life to follow at 3pm.
