James Norman Engebretson, 72, of Alexandria, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024. Born on August 5, 1952, in Jeffersonville, he was the son of William and Joyce (Flaten) Engebretson. Jim graduated from Clarksville High School in 1970 and continued his education at Indiana University - Bloomington, where he earned a bachelor's degree.
A veteran of the United States Army, Jim had a commitment to service. He was a longtime member of Ducks Unlimited and retired after a career as a millwright. Known for his love of the outdoors, he spent countless hours hunting, fishing and enjoying nature. Jim also liked playing golf and was a fan of the Indiana Hoosiers.
He is survived by his brother, David Engebretson (Kathy); nephew, Chris Engebretson (Marti Jo Scott); and great-nieces and great-nephew, Leon, Lucille, and Adele Schroeder. He is also remembered fondly by many cousins and extended family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Jennifer Engebretson-Schroeder.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 2:00 p.m., with burial and military honors to immediately follow the service at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
