James "Big Jay" Edwards, 54, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021. James "Big Jay" Edwards, was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and son. Big Jay was a hardworking man who knew how to balance work and fun. He was a wonderful grandfather to his granddaughter Sophia Parks, she was his world and then some. Big Jay was a die hard sports fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and loved cruising in his Jeep with the top down. Big Jay was the epitome of the derby life style, you could always catch him on the block, grilling, working out, or playing dominoes with his friends and family. Jay would want you to remember his life how he lived it, he would not want you to mourn or cry, he would want you to rejoice in the fact that he lived his best life and now he's moved on to a better place.
He was born on April 7, 1967 in Lebanon, Kentucky to James Grandy and Mary Edwards. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Alice Edwards and Gerrod Edwards.
James is survived by his loving family, mother, Mary Louise Edwards; son, Jay LaDon (Morgan) Parks; grandchildren, Sophia Parks and Legend Mitchelle; brother, Raymond " Ray Ray" Edwards. As well as a host of family and friends to cherish his loving memory forever.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, (10304 Dixie Hwy). His Celebration of Life Service will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel with burial to follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
